Common Foot Problems treated at
                 TALBOT ASSOCIATES  THE FOOT CLINIC

Calluses and Corns

A callus is a build up of thickened dead skin which accumulates in an area that has been subjected

to frequent pressure and friction.

A corn is an area of callus that has become cone shaped with a dense centre.

The corn presses into the deeper layers of the skin and can become extremely painful

Ingrowing Toenails (Onychocryptosis)

An ingrowing toenail is a painful condition caused by a sliver of nail digging into the flesh

at the side of toes. This condition can occur in any toe, but is more common in the big toe

Overgrown and Thickened Toe Nails (Neglect)

A professional and sympathetic approach is given,

so that problems are efficiently dealt with, even in extreme cases

Fungal/Mycotic Nails (Onychomycosis)

Fungal nails occur when a fungus attacks either the nail plate or the nail bed.

This leads to a thickened discolouration of the nail plate, denoting a process of degradation

Athlete’s Foot (Tinea Pedis)

Athlete’s foot is a common fungal infection. Small amounts of harmless fungi are naturally present on human skin. However in moist, warm and airless conditions, as do exist between the toes and on the sole of the foot, fungi may thrive causing symptoms of burning, itching, rawness and dryness

Verrucae (Verruca Pedis)

Verrucae are plantar warts which grow on feet. They can become sensitive and painful and are contagious

Bunions (Hallux Valgus)

A bunion is an enlarged deformity at the base of the big toe. This enlargement has the potential to become painful and swollen,

often due to the rubbing of footwear on the prominent area
